Smoke Alarms

  • Do monthly checks

  • Test the unit

  • Replace batteries if needed

  • Clean unit if needed

Carbon Monoxide Detectors

  • Do monthly checks

  • Test the unit

  • Replace batteries if needed

  • Clean unit if needed

Filters

  • Replace filter as per the manual on Furnace Unit

  • Replace or clean filter as per the manual on the Range Hood Unit

Dryer Unit

  • Always clean dryer lint filter after each use. Potential fire source if not cleaned on regular basis

  • Yearly complete a check of the dryer vent from dryer unit to outside vent

Electrical Cords

  • Electrical cords should be replaced/removed if frayed or damaged in any way

Fire Extinguisher

  • Check to see that it’s fully charged - check pressure gauge

  • Check for irregularities
    - Cracked hose lines
    - Nozzle is free from obstructions
    - Pull Pin is free from obstructions

Escape Plan

  • Ensure everyone knows Escape Route Plan in household

  • Know where the fire extinguisher is located

  • Ensure that windows can be opened easily so that they can be used as an escape route if needed

  • Keep all flammable liquids and materials away from ignition sources and keep lighters and matched away from children
